PLEASE READ BELOW FOR INFORMATION ON HOW THE COLOUR RUN FUNDS WILL BE USED:

Back in January, when discussing plans for the year, the children spoke passionately about wanting to take action and do something proactive to raise funds for people outside of our own school walls. I was deeply moved by the overwhelming selflessness, compassion, and empathy they showed. They were absolutely clear: they wanted to dedicate an event this year entirely to helping others.

As the year has unfolded, the devastating challenges faced by two families close to our community became more known to us, and it felt only right to channel the children’s incredible wish into supporting them. As a result, this event belongs entirely to the children – it is a showcase of their massive hearts and a celebration of just how fantastic and caring the pupils of Longney School truly are.

For clarity, the funds raised will be split equally between:

Supporting Amy and LATCH Children’s Cancer Charity

In December, a family very close to members of our school community received the devastating news that their six-year-old daughter, Amy, was diagnosed with Pancreatoblastoma. Amy has shown incredible fortitude and resilience as she navigates her treatment and the journey she is facing.

Amy’s family and friends have been deeply supported and moved by the exceptional care offered by LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity. LATCH provides vital emotional, social, and financial assistance to children and their families from the moment of diagnosis and beyond.

Amy and her family have requested that their half of the funds we raise from The Colour Run of Hope be donated directly to LATCH. Your participation will honour Amy’s fearless spirit and provide essential support to her family and many others navigating similar journeys.

Supporting Mason’s Adventures

Mason is a courageous five-year-old and a football teammate to a couple of our Reception children. In November, Mason’s life changed overnight when he was diagnosed with multiple Meningioma brain tumours.

Since then, he has shown immense valour, enduring a gruelling 22-hour surgery to reduce the tumours and preserve his sight. The path ahead remains challenging; Mason has been left blind in one eye, and everyone involved in his treatment is working swiftly to protect the vision in his other eye. Mason continues to resolutely manage daily pain and difficulties with his speech and swallowing due to a paralysed vocal cord (a result of the necessary surgery he has undergone).

The second half of the funds raised at The Colour Run of Hope will go toward Mason’s Adventures ([GoFundMe Link]). Donations to this cause will allow Mason and his family to focus on finding joy – creating precious memories and embarking on special experiences together while he can still fully enjoy them.”
